Soup’s On
We will be serving a soup du jour through the winter months with Chef David’s fabulous French onion soup available every day. Give it a try. You’ll be glad you did.
February 14 - "Magic, It Must Be Magic"
This is our 4th year of having a Valentine’s dinner featuring poems and songs of love by David & Marilyn Bengston. We are three-fourths full now, so don’t wait too long to make a reservation. Call 320-759-2277 or e-mail sixthavealex@gctel.net. The cost is $35 a person with doors opening at 5:30 and serving/program starting at 6:30. Chef David has come up with a delicious menu:
1st course - Roasted pear drizzled with a chocolate and almond liqueur sauce
2nd course - Spinach and pomegranate salad with hot bacon dressing garnished with shaved white chocolate.
3rd course - Pork loin with an apple cider sauce placed atop Kailua pasta served with chocolate candied Parisian carrots.
4th course - Chocolate strawberry crepe served with a white chocolate sauce topped with almond Crème anglaise.
February 21 - Mardi Gras
Come celebrate Fat Tuesday with us. We will have music and some New Orleans-style menu features.
February 28 - Wine & Mystery Meet-Up
Most of us were outdoors enjoying our “spring” weather and didn’t get the book read. (This did not stop us from trying a couple new wines.) Anyway, we are going to try it again. The book is “Beast of Barbaresco” by Tony Aspler. We meet at 5:30 and everyone is welcome.
February 29 - Leap Day
Here’s an extra day to come down to SAWA and enjoy some great food and/or your favorite beverage.
March 5 - Empyrean Beer Dinner
We are very excited to introduce a new beer to this area. It is produced by the Empyrean Brewing Company based in Lincoln, Neb. We will be having a 5-course dinner to feature several of their beers. I’m hearing words like elk, halibut, and beer cheese soup being tossed around the kitchen.
